Motorcycle Saddle Bags.

In the past Motorcycle saddle bags used to be a standard leather bag. The only mounting system available back in 1950´s was the throw over style. With the evolution of bikes, the shapes and sizes of motorcycle saddle bags began to change.

One of the first advancements in the field was the mounting systems. A group of riders and motorcycle enthusiast drilled holes in the back fender of there motorcycles in order to mount their motorcycle saddle bags more securely. This not only gave the motorcyclists a peace of mind but also gave the motorcycles a cleaner and improved look. This trend was started back in 1960´s and could be mostly seen on the Harleys. This became so popular that very soon most motorcycles started adding struts which would accommodate the motorcycle saddle bags without drilling holes in the back fender. Later the strut was used for sissy bar as well.

As motorcycle enthusiasts grew in number and the consumers started demanding bigger and better looking machines the motorcycle manufacturers increased in number. Each motorcycle manufacturer responded to the consumer demand of owning unique looking motorcycles. By that time the Japanese motorcycles also started getting popular in the United States. The new and old companies produced a variety of different bikes to satisfy the motorcyclists. The prices of motorcycles also fell down that increased the demand of the motorcycles.

During this period Harley motorcycle riders started customizing there motorcycles by putting motorcycle saddle bags on them. Kawasaki and Yamaha were quick to follow. Later this trend was joined by victory and Suzuki motorcycles. Numerous motorcycle saddle bag companies sprang up because of this and began to offer many different designs.
